This past week, I have been encouraged ;) to fast from social media. To pull away from all the whispers from the world, and to step out of the fog. In this journey, I got to step away from all my “loves” in the world, and run straight into the perfect love of Christ. It really is crazy how when you put your phone up, like for real, you are able to dive into the love story written just for you. Distraction is one of the devil’s biggest tools, and boy does it work with me. Slowly but surely, I found myself automatically reaching for my Bible instead of my phone. How cool is it to dive into truth instead of being immersed in lies? Now, I’m not saying my phone or social media are bad, I’m just saying it is a slow fade. Idols are real and are taking our focus everyday.
Reading the love story the creator of the universe wrote for me is so so so much better than obsessing over how frizzy my hair looks in this picture, or how much better this filter makes me look. Turning all my attention to my Prince Charming who loved me and pursued me wayyyyy before I was anything worth pursuing … THAT is something to obsess over and base captions around. To rest assured in the fact that God knows all about me. He knows my flaws and failures, my dreams and longings, my fear and hope, and yet remains unwaveringly true, with all my nasty in plain sight. to be fully known, yet completely loved. Oh man, it is such a beautiful thing.
